Project Description
ORTHOTICS
Orthotics are specially designed shoe inserts that have been used for centuries to successfully treat foot problems, relieve pain and improve foot function. They can be manufactured out of a variety of materials, matched for your specific problem. Podiatrists are highly skilled in assessing your foot function and prescribing an appropriate device for your condition and lifestyle. The podiatrist will determine which internal and external forces are acting on your feet to cause pain or injury and will work to reduce these excessive forces or load with an orthotic device.
Different orthotic designs or features will alter the strength of forces or location and timing of the forces which are responsible for many injuries, so it’s important to see a trained professional when considering orthotics. In conjunction with orthotics, the podiatrist may also recommend certain shoe wear or exercises, modification of activity or rest to help alleviate symptoms and allow injuries to heal.
