Project Description
CRACKED HEELS
Cracked heels are not just unsightly and painful they can put you at greater risk of infection as well. Often worse in summer, when we tend to wear open shoes such as thongs and sandals, causing the skin around the heel to dry excessively and crack. Some health conditions may increase your risk or make you more prone to developing cracked heels including; eczema, psoriasis, diabetes, obesity and menopause.
Seeing our podiatrists will help you manage this condition. The podiatrist will carefully remove the excess skin and develop a plan to help you manage the condition together. This may include the regular application of moisturiser, shoe wear advice and the use of a pumice stone at home.
